My Top 2 Strategies to Stick with It

Plain and simple, there are ways to keep yourself in check and in the game aside from physically doing your workouts and eating healthy foods. How do you keep your mind right during those moments in between? Here are my personal TOP 2 -

  1. Reading and Educating
    • Read books that are centered around whatever goal you’re after
    • Listen to podcasts that are focused around your goals – Zach and I always listen to podcasts when we travel or walk the neighborhood
    • Subscribe to blogs centered around your goals – look at you already reading a blog!
    • Find articles to read in your spare time that are all about whatever goal you’re trying to hit – sitting on the toilet for 30min? (seriously don’t know how people do this) Read some fitness and health articles instead of mindlessly scrolling through social media

The more you can create time throughout your day where you’re diving into things that have to do with your current goals, the more likely you are to stick with them.

  1. Community
    • Surround yourself with people who have similar goals – if you find yourself constantly with people who encourage you to skip workouts or just eat like shit, you should probably find some ADDITIONAL friends who have the same goals as you. I’m not saying drop those friends, but get you some who can relate to whatever you’re trying to achieve and who ENCOURAGE growth
    • Join Facebook groups with people that have similar goals
    • Hire a TRAINER
    • Find a workout buddy!

I remember in the beginning of my fitness journey when I had big goals to gain lots of muscle and cut body fat. Who doesn’t, right? I had so many friends and family members that were just like, “Oh come on, just stay here and drink with us!! You can workout tomorrow, geez” I would just sit there so confused. I literally have GOALS, and I’m trying to better myself, and you don’t want me to…. Weird. It wasn’t until I opened my gym in Odessa, TX that I started building some STRONG ASS relationships with clients and now close friends who push me to be the best that I can be. Instead of, “hey let’s drink again and waste the day away every day”, it was “hey let’s go get a kickass workout and then have a burger and some drinks!” Those types of friendships are such a powerful thing.

The ultimate goal here is to fill the parts of your day where you are not working out and indulging in eating healthy with other things that push you FORWARD. This is a forever thing. If you keep every single thing the exact same and just add working out and eating decent, it’s going to be A LOT harder to stick with it. Find you some “swole-mates”. Get with a trainer. Dive into some fitness podcasts. Take 10min out of your day to read a fitness-related book. Let’s get it!
